Advisor in the Environmental Protection Agency Vrancea in nature protection domain and LIFEURSUS project coordinator. He coordinates the projects LIFE05NAT/RO/00170 LIFE02NAT/RO/8576. Since 2009 he has a PhD in geography, obtained with his thesis “The ecological potential and biological exploitation in protected areas in Vrancea County”. He is a member of the National Working Group for Conservation of Large Carnivores in the Scientific Council of Putna-Vrancea Natural Park.
Mihai is a member of the Association for the Conservation of Biological Diversity, and is the coordinator of the activities focused on human-bear conflicts and development of the guidelines for monitoring populations of brown bear. With ten years experience in large carnivores conservation and forest habitats is also involved in other projects targeting the conservation of the bear, wolf, and lynx. Is a member of the National Working Group for Conservation of Large Carnivores and member of the German Society of Mammalogy. In 2011 he presented his dissertation thesis „Study of damages caused to livestock by bears in Covasna, Harghita and Vrancea areas” at the Faculty of Forestry Brasov and published his graduation thesis ” Brown bear from conflict to conservation”.

President and founder of the Association for Nature Conservation Values Harghita County and leader of the project regarding the rehabilitation of orphaned or abandoned bear cubs. It is responsible for the implementation of awareness raising, bear capture actions and rehabilitation activities of orphaned bear offspring. Is a member of the National Working Group for Conservation of Large Carnivores. He actively contributed to the research activities of large carnivores in Romania. In 2010 he presented his dissertation thesis: „Practical Applications of the Bear Rehabilitation Centre in the Scientific Studies Related Species with the Behavior and Ecology’s” at the University of West in Hungary – Faculty of Forestry, Institute of Vertebrate Biology and hunting, Sopron, Hungary.

Since 2002 she has been involved in numerous conservation programs in Vrancea County and she was until 2006 an active member of the Association for Sustainable, Living Fire. She was responsible for the grant of two projects for the conservation of wolves in Vrancea county funded by the Rufford Foundation.

Field and GIS Technician expert in the activities of developing a methodological guide for the assessment of brown bear population and member of the RAT team. Professional geographer, he studied at the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj Napoca, Faculty of Geography, and graduated in 2006. Since then, he worked in the department of the Protected Areas at EPA Covasna. Since autumn 2010 he joined the project LIFEURSUS team.

Biologist and at present PhD student at the Institute of Wildlife Biology and Game Management, the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna. She is currently conducting her PhD studies about research into conflict behaviour and management of habituated and food-conditioned brown bears in Covasna, Harghita and Vrancea County in Romania. She graduated biology at the Technical University of Munich in 2007 with the Master thesis “A comparative study of habitat use between wild and scavenger bears in the area of Brasov, Romania”. Alexandra is a member of the LIFEURSUS Project team since October 2011 and is involved in different project activities: the capture and the monitoring of brown bears, data sampling, study design and data analyses.
Environmental analyst and geographer, he is an active member of the Association for Biodiversity Conservation, mainly involved in the implementation of field activities and collected field data, processing within projects developed by the association, inclusively LIFEURSUS project. In the last years, his interest headed for research and conservation of Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra). In 2009 he obtained the degree in Geography and in 2011 the title of Master in Environmental Sciences at the University of Bucharest. He works in the Environmental NGOs since 2007.
Active member of the Association for Biological Diversity Conservation until 2004, Mariana is lawyer by profession. In the LIFEURSUS project he held until 2012 the project assistant position providing implementation of the project in accordance with its provisions. He is currently a project coordinator for POS Environment for SPA Lower Siret Meadow legal advisor of the organization.
Active member of the Association for Biological Diversity Conservation, she is involved in research activities of large carnivores. In 2012 obtained her Master’s degree with the thesis entitled “Habitat use by brown bears (Ursus arctos). Case Study – Vrancea County”, from the Faculty of Geography (UB). Currently, she is a PhD student at the Faculty of Biology, Department of Systemic Ecology and Sustainable Development, University of Bucharest, where she primarily studies the applicability of noninvasive methods for monitoring the wolf population in Romania.
Active member of the Association for Biodiversity Conservation he joined LIFEURSUS team since 2009. As training is a geographer specialized in carrying out field activities which involves LIFEURSUS project, especially monitoring the bear based on tracks and signs, monitoring using radio telemetry and dens monitoring. Recently specialized on the study of lynx (Lynx lynx), he participated in various conferences to present his results.
